Lucrarea a fost elaborată în baza rezultatelor cercetării detaliate a colecțiilor pedologice din patrimoniul mai multor instituții de cercetare, precum urmează: Muzeul Naţional de Etnografie şi Istorie Naturală; Muzeul de Științe ale Naturii al Universității de Stat din Moldova; Muzeul Pedologic „Andrei Ursu” al Institutului de Pedologie, Agrochimie și Protecția Solului „Nicolae Dimo”; Muzeul Rezervației Naturale „Codrii” și Colecția pedologică din cadrul Laboratorului Geomorfologie și Ecopedologie al Institutului de Ecologie și Geografie. Pe lângă componenta științifică a cercetării, a fost studiat în detaliu și istoricul creării acestor colecții, fiind elucidate așa aspecte ca: cronologia exactă, implicarea și meritul savanților din domeniu și a instituțiilor de profil, istoricul și evoluția determinărilor, statutul colecțiilor în timp ș.a.

The work was prepared on the basis of the results of a detailed study of soil collections from the funds of several research institutes, namely: the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History; Museum of Natural Sciences of the State University of Moldova; Museum of Soil Science "Andrei Ursu" of the Institute of Soil Science, Agrochemistry and Soil Protection named after Nicolae Dimo; Museum of the Codrii Reserve and the soil collection of the Laboratory of Geomorphology and Ecopedology of the Institute of Ecology and Geography. In addition to the scientific component of the study, the history of the creation of these collections was also studied in detail, highlighting issues such as: exact chronology, participation and merits of scientists and institutions, history and evolution of definitions, status of collections over time, and so on.

Работа подготовлена на основе результатов детального исследования почвенных коллекций из фондов нескольких исследовательских институтов, а именно: Национального Музея природы и этнографии; Музея естественных наук Государственного университета Молдовы; Музея почвоведения "Андрей Урсу" Института почвоведения, агрохимии и защиты почв им. Николае Димо; Музея Заповедника "Кодрий" и почвенная коллекция Лаборатории геоморфологии и экопедологии Института экологии и географии. Помимо научного компонента исследования, была подробно изучена и история создания этих коллекций, освещая такие вопросы, как: точная хронология, участие и заслуги ученых и учреждений, история и эволюция определений, статус коллекций во времени и так далее.
