Fondarea Societăţii Ştiinţice a Geneticienilor şi Amelioratorilor din Republica Moldova a fost posibilă datorită capacităţii organiza-torice a academicianului Anatol Kovarski, care din primele zile de activitate în calitate de şef al catedrei de ameliorare şi produce- rea seminţelor (astăzi – catedra de ameliorare,genetică şi biotehnologie a plantelor agricole)a Institutului Agricol din Chişinău (astăzi Universitatea Agrară de Stat din Moldova) a implementat metoda de integrare a lucrului de pregătire a cadrelor la catedră cu activi-tatea ştiinţică a Staţiunii de ameliorare şi genetică a culturilor de câmp din cadrul aceluiaşi Institut.
